Family Medical Leave (FML)
Eligibility for FMLA: To qualify for FMLA benefits, you must have been employed with Liberty Hill ISD for at least 12 months and have worked a minimum of 1,250 hours during the 12 months preceding the start of your leave.
Job Protection and Health Insurance: FMLA entitles eligible employees to job protection and the continuation of health insurance coverage under the same terms and conditions as if they had not taken leave. Note that insurance premiums will still need to be collected.
Duration of Leave: Eligible employees can take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave. This leave can be taken either consecutively or intermittently over a 12-month period, depending on your specific situation. When taking intermittent FMLA leave at Liberty Hill ISD, employees must report their absences in the designated timekeeping system (Skyward or Frontline) and notify the Benefits department weekly with the specific dates and times of FMLA-related absences. Additionally, you must inform your supervisor prior to taking leave to facilitate operational or instructional planning and arrange for substitute coverage if needed.
Application Process: To apply for FMLA leave, please submit your request to benefits@libertyhill.txed.net. We ask that you do this at least 30 calendar days before your leave is set to begin, when possible. In cases of emergencies or unforeseen circumstances, we understand that advance notice may not be feasible.
Please note that FMLA leave will be used concurrently with any applicable paid leave, and medical certification is necessary to process your FMLA request.
